Operation Report for Dec 2011
During the month of December 2011 there were 55 operations. There were 2 medivac operations during December 2011. This represents an unusual number of operations owing to the very nice weather we have been having. It has been dry and sunny, and pilots have taken advantage of the weather. This is better than double the number of operations in December 2010.
While we waited until late in the year, we did manage to get the runway surface sealed. This was done in late October, and because of wind we had to wait until December to actually stripe the runway. All the maintenance for the runway has now been completed. The only ongoing chore for the next couple months will be spot spraying on the runway surface.
At this time, a summation and analysis of operations for 2011 is presented, with a comparison to 2010. During 2010 there were 595 operations and 52 medivacs at our airport. During 2011 there were 674 operations and 46 medivacs. During 2011 we had no CALFIRE operations, but we had 2 law enforcement operations (CHP.) This represents an increase in normal operations of about 13%. We would anticipate an increase with the increasing numbers of our community that are involved with aviation. And finally it is nice to know that public service aviation such as CALFIRE and CHP both use our runway, and regularly fly over our runway as a continuing safety feature.
